Unbreakable by Kami Garcia Book review

Unbreakable (Legion, #1)Supernatural meets The Da Vinci Code in this action-packed paranormal thriller, the first book in a new series from New York Times bestselling author Kami Garcia.

I never believed in ghosts. Until one tried to kill me.

When Kennedy Waters finds her mother dead, her world begins to unravel. She doesn’t know that paranormal forces in a much darker world are the ones pulling the strings. Not until identical twins Jared and Lukas Lockhart break into Kennedy’s room and destroy a dangerous spirit sent to kill her. The brothers reveal that her mother was part of an ancient secret society responsible for protecting the world from a vengeful demon — a society whose five members were all murdered on the same night.

Now Kennedy has to take her mother’s place in the Legion if she wants to uncover the truth and stay alive. Along with new Legion members Priest and Alara, the teens race to find the only weapon that might be able to destroy the demon — battling the deadly spirits he controls every step of the way.

Suspense, romance, and the paranormal meet in this chilling urban fantasy, the first book in a new series from Kami Garcia, bestselling coauthor of the Beautiful Creatures novels.

3 Stars

Unbreakable had a lot of great qualities. I really enjoyed the mysterious plot that Garcia put forth and the fact that is was completely different to her previous novel Beautiful Creatures was a bonus.

The only thing that I didnt enjoy in parts was the teenage melodrama and whining and at times the immaturity. But overall its a fast read .

The horror put forth was eery and the plot was good, but I felt that the romance was a little laid back for me. I personally enjoy a little more romance that seems to blend better in my novels but this story certainly has a lot of potential.

Anyone who enjoys a great horror story will certainly enjoy this story it’s defiantly not for the faint at
heart.

Unbreakable is a supernatural - paranormal read, and this author has woven this well throughout the story. Once again this shows the authors ability to tell a story and her unique writing abilities.

At times the story was a tad predictable – but the constant action and scary moments will certainly have the horror fans appeased.

Unbreakable does focus a lot on the characters and their backgrounds. Unique and well defined. Which initially is setting up for the next instalment giving the reader background information. But with the fast paced and on the edge read I’m sure that the horror fans will enjoy.

I look forward to the next instalment.

Thank you to Simon and schuster for supplying me with this book  for my honest review.
